Hey, this is one of my journals!At the end of each of my journals, I read through the whole thing & write a list of summarized lessons I learned over the course of the book (usually 3 or 4 months). My last journal, which lasted from October 30th 2007 to February 28th 2008, had an extraordinarily huge list at the end, because so much happened to me during that time. Some of the lessons are direct quotes from my journal, or from people in my life. There is a total of 90. I will share some.

5. Romantic confession letters are the best thing ever.
9. The most important quality of a relationship, for me, is the ability to talk for hours on end.
20. Writing songs about real people gets complicated.
31. Shyness is pointless.
37. When the relationship itself is scarier/more torturous/more painful than the breakup, you know something’s wrong.
41. “That cutesy couple” is not nearly as nauseating when you’re a part of it.
49. I am meant to be somebody’s girlfriend & don’t function at full capacity when single.
57. Time does heal all wounds.
63. Caroling with friends is WAY more fun than drinking with strangers.
66. Ten-year-olds ask surprisingly insightful questions.
69. When it comes to sexual orientation, labeling yourself is stressful & pointless. You like who you like & that’s all that matters.

I hardly write anymore. I think it’s because not that much is going on anymore. But I’d like to get back into it. Damian keeps asking me why I’m not journaling so much anymore because apparently it’s “one of the things that makes me unique to him.”
