(TW: WEIGHT STUFF!! Why won’t Tumblr let me put tags on asks?! I just wanna respect people’s triggers up in here!!)
So, babe, it sounds like you’re a very average, even kinda skinny weight for your height. You’re right in the middle of what the (admittedly imperfect) BMI system considers a “normal” weight for your height. I would encourage you to have a chat with your doctor to determine whether it’s safe/healthy for you to be trying to lose more weight.
As for HOW to actually do it, I’m afraid I can’t advise you because calorie-counting is the ONLY thing that has ever worked for me. Restrictive diets are not sustainable because you will go back to eating “normally” when you lose the weight and then you will gain it back (statistically, this happens to about 90-95% of people within 5 years of losing any significant amount of weight). If you want to change the way you eat, you have to change it in a way that can realistically become permanent for you.
I used to think calorie-counting sounded exhausting too – like people who did it would have to be obsessed with their food and would worry and feel restricted all the time – but now that I’ve gotten into it, it’s a breeze. It’s actually kind of fun for me. (Some people say 30 days is the magic number for cementing a new habit into place, and that seems about right from my experience.) I have MyFitnessPal on my computer and my phone, so I can enter foods no matter where I am. Easy peasy.
Love, please stay safe and consider this carefully, with the help of a medical professional!
