centering practices:

1. Choose or find an herbal tea that you absolutely love, and make it your ritual to drink a cup or two of it every night. You can do this meditatively, or while reading a good book, or over a conversation with someone comforting. Pay attention to the warmth of the mug in your hand, the warmth flowing into your body, healing you.

2. When you feel stressed out, scatterbrained, or otherwise “not completely together,” take out a journal and write down all your worries, all the stuff you have to get done, everything that’s happened. If it helps, make a list of actionable items. Now you’ve gotten all that crap out of your brain, so you’re detoxed and should be feeling much calmer.

3. Download a podcast that’s of interest to you, ideally something inspirational and educational, and listen to it while you clean your house.

4. Make a regular date with a friend to discuss what your goals are, what you hope to do to achieve them, and where you’re at now.

5. Someone you know, whether it’s your mother or your boyfriend or your best friend, has a smell that comforts you. Ask that person for a card with a spritz of their perfume on it, or one of their shirts, or a little vial of the shampoo they use, or whatever gives them their delicious musk. Inhale a bit of it any time you need to remind yourself that everything’s going to be okay.
