willow is BISEXUAL and yet it’s never EVER mentioned or acknowledged. Not only does she have a thing for Xander before she discovers her love for Tara, but then she falls in love with Oz too. so- in love with 2 men and 1 woman. pretty sure that means she’s bi but the show and all it’s fans paint her as “turning lesbian”. Buffy was way ahead of it’s time, but this still irritates me.
Well, in Buffy canon she actually has relationships with two male characters and two female characters (Tara from s4-s6 after her relationship with Oz ends, and then Kennedy in s7), and I haven’t read the comics so I have no idea how her love life continues to pan out. (EDIT I looked it up and she has a relationship with a goddess spirit of some sort in the comics. So after Oz (when she’s 17/18) she literally has no romantic relationships with men)
Bisexual eraser, especially in media, is a huge issue. Piper from OITNB “was a former lesbian” rather than being explicitly bisexual. I will defend bisexual characters on TV and my bisexual friends in real life when people question the authenticity of their sexualities, but Willow, according to herself, is a lesbian.
She comes out as a lesbian. She is not bisexual. Lesbian women can be with men and then be with women, like Willow did. It’s even hinted in s3 (when she’s still with Oz/ cheating on him with Xander) that she thinks her double is “a little gay”.
But more explicitly bi characters, any TV producers that happen to be reading, for the love of God we need more actual bi characters. Like, seriously.
