What do you think of using the word patriarchy to describe our society? My boyfriend thinks it's outdated and in a way attacked men so therefore distances them from the feminist movement.

It’s not outdated because we still live in a patriarchy. When we don’t live in a patriarchy anymore, then the word can be retired and considered outdated.

I think if a man misunderstands anti-patriarchy to mean anti-man, then it’s on him to do some research and correct his incorrect assumption.

Believing feminism is anti-man is far more outdated and problematic than the word “patriarchy.”
