I initially wasn’t sure how I’d feel about reading on a Kindle, but now that I’ve had it for a couple weeks and have read a few books on it, I’m totally sold. It’s awesome.
It doesn’t hurt my eyes like I thought it would. I can sit and read it for hours and it’s just like I was reading an actual book, rather than staring at a screen.
The unit itself is really well-designed; all the buttons are in the places where it feels like they should be. There are page-turn buttons on both sides, so you can read one-handed with whatever hand you want.
Putting books on it is really easy and fast. I don’t even have to plug it into my computer. I just e-mail the files to a special e-mail address and they magically show up on the device.
The only things I don’t like about the Kindle are that a) e-books are way more expensive than regular books and b) I feel like I have to be more careful/ginger with my Kindle than I would with a book (e.g. I can’t spill tea on it or shove it forcefully into my bag to make it fit). I wonder if e-book prices will come down.
Whateva, though. I’m happy I bought this thing.
