As you know if you’ve been reading my blog for more than about five seconds, I review sex toys. I’ve been blogging about toys, and related sexual topics (not here – on a different website), for over a year now.
As you also know if you’ve read my blog for more than about five seconds, I am an avid fan of Gala Darling. I’ve been following her career since 2007 and she’s truly one of my idols. Through her blog, I discovered Shauna and Kat, two ladies just as lovely and inspirational as Gala.
The three of them are coming to my city, Toronto, to teach a Blogcademy workshop. Needless to say, I’m dying to be there.
The thing is, it costs $750. While I’m sure that’s a reasonable price for all the information jam-packed into the class and all the swag crammed into the goodie bags, I just don’t have that kind of dough. My blog makes a little money, but not that much.
Fortunately, the Blogcademy gives away a scholarship to one lucky applicant for each city they visit. And I’m hoping they’ll choose me for their Toronto class.
I’m passionate about sex toys. That’s why I blog about ‘em. My mission is to empower women to explore their sexuality and to give themselves pleasure. Sex toys are just one way to do that, but they’re a great way to do it.
There’s a problem, though: I’m not totally “out” to my friends, family, and community as a sex blogger. Many of the people in my life are aware that I review sex toys, but few of them have actually seen my blog. I’m shy and nervous and worried about the repercussions.
A big part of why I want to go to the Blogcademy is to gain the skills, know-how, and competence that will allow me to feel proud of what I do. My blog is all about enjoying pleasure without shame – and I want to practice what I preach!
So, without further ado, here is my plea to the headmistresses of the Blogcademy, in the hopes that they’ll award me a scholarship to their Toronto workshop next month…
