Yes! Here’s a bunch…
Instructional sex books:
• She Comes First– I haven’t personally read this one yet, but everyone says it’s great.
• The Ultimate Guide to Fellatio and The Ultimate Guide to Cunnilingus– excellent and very detailed oral sex guidebooks.
• The Whole Lesbian Sex Book– should be required reading for anyone who has sex with women.
• The Guide to Getting It On– a hetero-centric but nonetheless great sex guidebook.
• Sex is Fun: Creative Ideas for Exciting Sex– a sex guidebook in the form of a comic book.
• The Ultimate Guide to Anal Sex for Women– pretty much the best introductory anal sex resource out there.
• Female Ejaculation and the G-Spot– a somewhat hippie-dippy introduction to the G-spot and squirting.
Sex and anthropology, sociology, history, etc.:
• Sex At Dawn– a highly academic evolutionary dissection of why monogamy doesn’t come naturally to humans.
• O: The Intimate History of the Orgasm– a fantastic general overview of the history of sexuality and orgasm. Pays particular attention to the highly repressed Victorian period.
• Bonk: The Curious Coupling of Science and Sex– Mary Roach’s weird and often hilarious findings about where sexuality meets scientific study.
• Flow: The Cultural Story of Menstruation– an appropriately feminist book about periods, pussies, pads, etc.
Sex-related biographies, autobiographies, memoirs, etc.:
• Sex For One– Betty Dodson tends to discuss her book as though it were instructional, but I really don’t think it is. It’s more like a retelling of her personal history around masturbation and sexuality. Still a good read, though.
• A Queer and Pleasant Danger– Kate Bornstein’s fascinating memoir about life as a closeted transsexual Scientologist.
• Butch is a Noun and The Nearest Exit May Be Behind You– S. Bear Bergman’s witty and touching collections of essays and stories about being a butch and, later, a trans father.
• Paying For It– Chester Brown’s graphic novel about his interesting experiences with, and musings about, sex workers.
Sex and relationships:
• The Ethical Slut– this is the book about consensual non-monogamy.
• Opening Up– a practical guide to creating consensually non-monogamous relationships in a healthy way.
