1. Find community. As you probably know if you’re reading this, the internet is the best way to get instant feedback on whatever you’re feeling, thinking, or doing. Make a relevant post in a LiveJournal community, tag all your Tumblr posts appropriately, tell an interesting story on Reddit… You’re sure to find your people!
2. Make something. Drag out your sketchbook & paints. Sew something colorful &/or practical. Write a love poem. Do it! I command you!
3. Write & send some opulent snail mail. I write my friends letters on a semi-frequent basis, which is fun, but you can get more creative - I once made a magazine letter collage that said “Smile, you’re beautiful,” & mailed it anonymously to a friend of mine who I knew needed cheering up.
4. Discover & devour some rad blogs. Some personal recommendations: Gala Darling (especially her older posts, which you can find in her archive), Ega Jones, Georgina Swan, The Headologist, I Did It For Science.
5. Do a little active meditation. You can do this while going for a walk, hanging out in yoga poses, showering, or even just sitting still with your eyes closed. Picture yourself achieving one of your big goals, or acquiring something you’ve wanted for a long time. Allow yourself to feel how that would feel. Smile. Take deep breaths. Choose to be ecstatic. Stay there for a while.
